Committee Overviews

Block Kids Contest: Coordinate and oversee the annual NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) national building competition for kindergarten through 6th-grade students. The contest is held anytime between October - February. Chairs: Izzi Zandvliet and Mitzi Brown

Camp NAWIC: Plan and oversee the weeklong construction camp for high school girls, typically held in June.  Chair: Lisa M Thibodeaux, CIT; CDT

Community Outreach/ Strategic Planning Chair: Janice Ramsay

Finance: The committee will work with the Treasurer to oversee the fiscal health of the chapter. Responsibilities include preparing the Chapter’s annual budget, the annual audit of the Chapter’s financial records, and reviewing the budget and current expenditures. This committee normally meets twice a year. Chair: Janice Ramsay

Membership: The Membership Committee is one of the most vital committees in our Association. This committee is focused on recruiting new members, retaining current members, and participating in the growth and development of chapter members. We also prepare the members’ roster. This committee is a monthly commitment. Chair: Carolina Alvarez

Professional Development & Education (PD&E): PD&E is responsible for supporting the development of chapter members. They aim to obtain and develop programs and construction-related projects to educate members about different areas of the construction industry. The PD&E committee will promote our members' professional and personal growth through meetings, industry relationships, webinars, etc., and educate the community about NAWIC. This committee is a monthly commitment. Chairs: Cherise Rader and Bailee Bearden

PR/Marketing: The committee works with the other committee chairs to promote upcoming events, new members, and other initiatives on the NAWIC OC social media and website. This is a monthly commitment. Chair: Position Available

NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) Liaison: 
NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) is a (501)(c)(3) with a twofold purpose. First, profession development/ACCE certifications for NAWIC members. Second, introduction to construction careers for elementary through high school students with annual building and drafting competitions. Chair: Janice Ramsay

NAWIC Founders Scholarship Foundation (NFSF): This committee works together to award the chapter's "Kathryn Clay Memorial Scholarship" to deserving male or female undergraduate(s) or construction trades student(s). The committee is responsible for outreach to donors, schools, and applicants. The applications are administered through the NAWIC Founders Scholarship Foundation (NFSF) Board a (509(a)(3) and are due by February 28 for disbursement the next academic year. Chair: Izzi Zandvliet

Safety & Health Awareness We obtain and distribute best practice information and new and changing regulations for safety within the construction fields to NAWIC members. The goal of this committee is to ensure that NAWIC members and their companies have access to the information and tools needed to create a safe work environment. Chair: Marjorie Del Toro

Thomas House: In support of the Thomas House Family Shelter’s mission to provide a safe, supportive environment for homeless families with children, our chapter has committed to remodeling an eight-unit apartment complex to provide shelter to families in need. This committee helps organize volunteers, as well as donors’ financial and in-kind contributions. Chair: 

WIC Week: Plan and execute events held during the first week of March for the annual Women in Construction (WIC) Week, which promotes construction awareness for women. Chair: Lisa M Thibodeaux, CIT; CDT
