Women in Construction Celebrate Leadership
Anaheim, CA — Orange County Women Recognize Dynamic Leaders in Construction Industry.
On Tuesday, September 23, 2014, the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Orange County Chapter will install elected officers to their Board of Directors for the 2014-2015 year. NAWIC’s core purpose is to enhance the success of women in the construction industry. The Orange County Chapter of NAWIC chartered in 1964, and has helped to educate and empower their members in various aspects of construction during its 50-year tenure. The chapter membership is a diverse group – CEOs, Geologists, Lawyers and Paralegals, Professional Estimators, to name a few – all with a passion for the construction industry, and a vast amount of knowledge between them.
Though the number of women working in the construction industry continues to rise, they still make up a mere 10% of the total construction workforce. NAWIC aspires to promote the construction industry as a desirable career choice.
“I am excited to lead our chapter into a new year of growth,” says President-Elect Janeen Oliver. “Professional development is of high importance to me, and this year we focus on ‘No Limits!’ – no limits in our industry, in our association, and of ourselves. My goal is for every chapter member to find value in our programs. Whether it is through a presentation relevant to her specific trade, or acquiring a skill from a hands-on demonstration, each member has the opportunity to learn something that will enhance her success.”
Please join me in congratulating the 2014-2015 Board of Directors for the Orange County Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction:

NAWIC began in 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas by a group of women employed in the construction industry. Since that time, NAWIC has grown to a membership of more than 4,500 with hundreds of chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Today, NAWIC provides its members with opportunities for professional development, education, networking, leadership training, public service and more.
